Reading the Poetry of the Landscape

Poetry

Poetry is soca, calypso, rara, reggae.

It is the echoes of the abeng across the mountain top;

The cold smoldering seams between a couple’s silence ;

The hot passion of their midnight embrace.

It is the wondrous touch of a baby’s hand

And the last flower flung at a descending coffin.
